Loved the atmosphere here, very welcoming and the staff was so friendly.
The food option as are pretty wide and the bowls are and interesting addition. We had a variety of food at our table, a bowl, French toast, avocado toast, breakfast sandwich and it was all super yummy!
I would definitely visit Ruby's again when we come back and visit. -

Don't miss the Sunday Brunch! For $15 they have an all you can eat brunch buffet. The day we visited, the spread included a huge platter of fresh fruit, pastries, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, ham, roast vegetables, roast chicken, hash browns, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, bagel sandwiches, breakfast burritos, yogurt with all the toppings, and more. The coffee was great too. The servers were very friendly and efficient. Even though it was busy at 9:30am in Sunday, we were seated quickly and the buffet offerings were hot and constantly being replenished. Servers were on top of filling up coffee as well.
5 stars for food, value, and service.
They have indoor and outdoor seating. -

This place is new to McCall and was so good! I was really impressed by the diversity of the options, the decor/ambiance, and the really attentive service. I really hope this place does well and that I can return the next time I'm in the area!
The bansai bowl was eggs and bacon on a white rice base, with seaweed and sriracha on the side. The flavors went really well together and mixing the over medium style eggs into the rice made it so yummy! Overall this was my favorite.
The bandito bowl was a southwestern take on a breakfast bowl and came with eggs and chorizo on a hash brown base (with guac!). This was also super yummy and came with a lot of food!
I didn't take advantage of it but the coffee came with free refills too! I'm really excited about this place and would love to come back to try more of their menu items! -

Disappointing food. I got the CCBLT. It was a really bland & dry chicken sandwhich. Over priced for what you get. Service was good & the decor inside was cozy, too bad about the food.

If one knows before going in for the true-treat of Ruby's Kitchen that the owners (a real mom n pop) named it after a person precious to them (their daughter) one might expect it to be special based on that alone. One would be right. Even if one doesn't learn Missy and Chris Braden's (owners) Mission until seeing it on the menu header - "We're here to provide a happy and healthy meal from scratch for our family, friends and neighbors. We rely on local purveyors as the main source of our ingredients." - one might intuit from walking into the space this was so.
Eating breakfast at Ruby's Kitchen was so memorable an experience that we returned home eager to tell others about the delicious food and warm hospitality. Several neighbors are frequent McCall visitors but didn't know about Ruby's which is only 2 hours 'flat' drive. Maybe because it has been open just a little over a year (November 2017) in the space formerly home to Alpine Pantry. Serving breakfast and lunch (ending about 1:45) and using the same menu throughout, we are tempted to drive 4 hours round trip weekly to be Ruby's customers. But for the fact it may soon be impossible for me to get through their door. Hence 4 stars and not 5 with hopes they'll correct the barrier to entry here for people in my 11% of all Americans minority group (see Accessibility).
VIBE: A bright and light small place with seating for maybe 35+ at a combination of standard height tables and high perch seats at the bar top. Charmingly unpretentious "welcome neighbor" design with cement floors and lights strung above, it has a happy spirit. Ruby's sits across the road from Rotary Park on the lake with glimpses of same if you're sitting by a window. (Or outside in warm months.) There is a salad and soup bar at the back which is available for dine in and for take out. They also sell some market items like fresh juice and farm eggs from the fridge case.
SERVICE: Some comment about slower service here. That is likely true on busy times as it was leisurely for us when the restaurant was less than half full in the roughly 1 1/4 hours we delighted in being there for breakfast. (Truly, we hated to leave.) If you are in a hurry, this may not be your place. (Our tip-off this might take time was when the couple across from us, regulars, sat down with a deck of cards to deal hands of Gin Rummy even before their order was taken.) But if you enjoy artful ambiance (hearts are vested here), friendly service (Missy runs front of house and everyone was greeted warmly) and delicious food (Chris is at the helm in the kitchen) enter to have high expectations exceeded.
MENU: There is something for every diner - omnivores, vegetarians and vegans all. Uniquely arranged with headers on the left for Bowls (about $13) and Handhelds ( w/potato salad or soup for $11-12) and on the right for Eggs (w/ toast and hashbrowns or other sides like veg of day for about $8.50), Ruby's Munchkins (donut holes $5 for 6), Salad Bar (about $9.50), and Off-Piste options ($6 - $7). (For those unfamiliar with ski terms, Piste (rhymes with beast) is French for groomed runs and so Off-Piste is...well...you get it.) Those include choices like avocado toast, pancakes and the famed (well earned, I tell you) bubble waffle. The menu also includes bottomless cup of local roaster's good coffee for $3. (Said local roaster was also a server during our visit - this is a community place.)
FOOD: Bubble Waffle (for me) and Gardener Handheld for my hubby. I love waffles but stopped ordering them at restaurants a decade ago given I was so often disappointed on the quality of return for my calorie investment. But this luscious sweet cream batter (created by Chris) was perfectly cooked in bubble waffle iron and worth every calorie so I ate every bite (something I seldom do). My husband raved about the Gardener Handheld with a cauliflower steak, spinach, tomato, cheese and egg basted hard (just as he requested) on an English muffin. He also enjoyed his choice of soup side (curried cauliflower). He loves having veg for breakfast.
VALUE: Two diners well fed with coffee at only $24 before tax and tip. A great value.
ACCESSIBILITY: A guest with mobility limits, including use of a wheelchair, should find Ruby's accessible once inside - one level, standard height seating and accessible loo. The hitch-in-the-giddeyup is they may not be able to get in the doors. Although Ruby's has been mindful of ADA equal access rules by posting an ADA parking sign outside the front door, the deep loose gravel surface of the lot is not accessible for people using wheeled aids to move about. (For that reason, the ADA names this kind of gravel a non-compliant surface.) There is no accessible path outside the back door. I have MS. It is a progressive disease so I have a dog in this mobility equal access hunt. Through the deep gravel with difficulty this time, next time it may be impossible for me.
